According to Wikipedia, “A figure painting is a work of fine art in any of the painting media with the primary subject being the human figure, whether clothed or nude. Figure painting may also refer to the activity of creating such a work. The human figure has been one of the constant subjects of art since the first stone age cave paintings, and has been reinterpreted in various styles throughout history.” With this premise, I would like to underline the importance and particularity of this theme in the realm of painting.

For me, the depiction of the figure is the biggest challenge and yet, also gives the most satisfaction to me both as a viewer and a painter. The challenge is driven by the history of painting and its foundations laid by past masters regarding standard canons and the richness of expression in which the figure has been presented. All of this causes me to look at the the representation of the figure with a keen and knowledgeable eye.

The satisfaction, I am sure, is derived from the human
contact that is directly communicated from the depicted figure to the viewer. The immediacy of the ‘first impression’ grows with the study and contemplation of the figure and leads to a bond not unlike the one that exists in real life between two persons.

Although my most recent work with the figure has been with my graphic works, I would like to present some paintings which I have done in the most recent years as well as featuring some works from the past.
