Bad Organization

I’m sorry that I can’t organize my life better in order to find time to paint. I try to put some time aside on my busy agenda but end up not being able to respect my own appointments. Never mind. I find time here and there and when it happens, I really am immensely happy.

A student cancelled an appointment in the evening that left me free the next morning until 9.30 a.m. I checked the forecast and prepared for a session in the morning. I woke up, got dressed, prepared my stuff and was on the road before 6 am.

I headed for a farmhouse in a green pasture that had caught my eye from the motorway many times on my way to work. The trouble was that, in my previous google satellite searches, I could never find the road that leads off the motorway into the pasture in front of the farmhouse. After several failed attempts at finding the right road, I just followed my intuition and found a back road which lead into some different green pastures.

I parked the car and walked around while the sky turned from black to dark, dark blue. I saw a large hedgehog scurry away in the distance in front of me. After about five minutes, I found the right place and started to paint.

Unfortunately, the weather was changing and after about a hour, it started to rain. I took cover under a nearby bridge for about ten minutes but the rain continued. I decided to paint anyway and after 10 or 15 minutes, the rain stopped altogether.

My phone alarm went off at about 8.10 so I hadn’t even painted a solid 2 hours. I would have liked to continue as the light was diffused and created wonderfully saturated colours in nature. Even if I had to hurry to get back home in time, it was marvelous to be outside painting while the world woke up.
